Dogs, a baby, weather & Mother nature October 2021   Leave a comment

1) Dark clouds are the warning we will be getting our daily rain–for 10 minutes or, maybe, longer!

2) My October Calendar dogs

3) Gateway’s latest charmer–Payton’s baby brother

4) Bette Davis changes her outfits as much as Mother nature changes the weather—and both are right!

5) Jeff, who is legally blind. is in the process of having his guide dog trained–she is a beauty but, I think, a little too big for a studio apartment–hopefully he will be able to move to  a larger bedroom though it might be easier for him to handle a smaller space–right now she is too friendly with all the neighbors so I guess that will be part of her training–it is an interesting process to observe.

6) The purple and white orchids are really a standout on the tree–hope no one picks!October is starting off beautifully and hope it continues that way but until ‘hurricane’ season is over we don’t know.

Dogs, weather and food!   1 comment

Time for my new dogs of the month and they are so easy to take care of plus being house broken! :O)

The weather has been a typical summer in Fort Lauderdale except a little warmer than usual–a few days of ‘feel like’ over 100 degrees. The rain has followed a pattern of either rain during the night or early morning or early evening. If it is during the night it is usually long and heavy rain whereas early morning or evening it might be heavy but very seldom lasts more than 30 minutes. Of the past 7 only on one day did it rain for 6 hours with a few heavy downpours causing flooding. Luckily for us it usually rains more south of us, mainly in Miami or out west of Fort Lauderdale.  I know when I wake up in the morning around 10-11 AM everything is dry!

Slowly, but surely, we are getting back into our routine of eating out Thursday and Friday with Thursday being a little higher priced, full service restaurant like Big Louie’s or Tequila Sunrise and Friday more sort of fast food like Arby’s, Subways or in-between both like IHOP for an omelet or burger.

I do like going out to the movies every Friday but with the way the virus is multiplying again here movie theatres and touring Broadway theatres could go dark again.Looks like the only thing I can depend on are the dogs!!!

Weather, dogs, the moon, man working on a yacht and a small rant!   1 comment

I had a horrendous day yesterday with the 2 tests–started with my having to get up at 6:30 AM–yes that is 6:30 AM!!–only to get to the hospital to find out the doctor’s office didn’t send the paperwork! Long story short–didn’t have the tests done until 11 AM and they only lasted a total of 30 minutes!

That isn’t the worse part though! I called to get my ride home and was on hold for 32 minutes (with a recording telling me repeatedly how important I was!) until I finally, after speaking to 4 different people, was told my ride would pick me up 45 to 60 minutes! I know you don’t want to hear what I said after that but let’s just say I did apologize to her because I knew it wasn’t her fault but after she put me on a very short hold, but enough to hear how important I was, she came back on the phone and told me that a lyft driver would pick me up in 4 minutes and that my insurance will pay for it!

I got home about 2 PM and spent the rest of the day & evening looking out my window and watching some of the dog walkers who are out every day. The third picture is my next-door neighbors with their 2 grandkids and Lucy their dog. I, also, thought I would point out the doggie clean-up bags management has put up around the property! And then there are my 2 June calendar dogs who greet me every day.

That evening we had that special moon and I took a couple of shots from where I sit and have dinner.
In the very last picture is a reminder that even rich people with yachts have to work on their ‘homes’–in that last picture can you see the guy working on the bow?

Last, but not least, another beautiful week with one exception and that is our afternoon showers that bring very humid evenings!!
(

Now I have to brace myself for another test on Monday but I will be sure the doctor’s office has sent the paperwork over on Friday!!)

Benny the bird versus Seymour the squirrel   2 comments

Hindsight is always better!!!

I was near the outer entrance to my apartment door when something caught my eye and turning around I saw Benny the beautiful bluebird standing on an outside branch of the tree which he rarely does. Usually, he is further in the tree where his wife and chicks are. All of a sudden I saw him dart at something in the tree and because Seymour the squirrel blends in so well with the wood it took me a second to recognize him.

I immediately got my camera out and took a few shots of Benny sort of playing a game with Seymour as if to attack him but all the latter did was wrap himself tighter around the bark blending in and almost invisible. There wasn’t any actual contact between them and I started to think if I had ever seen squirrels and birds fight but I hadn’t! Soon both disappeared and so I went in.

As I looked at the pictures I realized I should have turned on the movie button and maybe I would have seen more! I know for sure that is Benny in the second picture and Seymour in the 4th but I have no idea who is in the first. My instinct was that it was Seymour in the first but then again I wouldn’t bet on it. I, also, know both were/are in the tree in the 3rd picture but where I couldn’t tell you.

I was interested in the birds versus squirrel fight that I googled it, binged it but except their fighting over birdseed I really didn’t find an answer!! Besides what birdseed would be in a tree without any feeders??

Next time I will make a video and get some answers—maybe–and some better shots of the fighters!

CAT NAPS   Leave a comment

I love this cat!! I don’t care whether it is DLST or EST (I checked to see what time he took his nap after we moved the clock back–yep it was 4 :30!!!) raining or hot and humid, whatever, he takes his nap around 4:30 every day!! If I didn’t know better I would think he was a senior citizen resident of Gateway–the old folks here take their nap around 4:30 PM!!

The pictures in the four slideshows were taken in November, December and January–you don’t need a watch!! Check by the window and if he is asleep in the window you know it is nap time!!!! I had posted one previously but I made a mistake posting it and no one could see it as I put it with these and that one isn’t all about the cat but just more sides of him!

Like people cats get into a routine and don’t you dare get in the way! If you have ever tried to get a senior to do something at nap time there will be hell to pay–same with a cat!
